Mercy Health Clinic opened its doors in the year 2000 to serve uninsured individuals with limited incomes in Montgomery County Maryland. Since its opening the Clinic has conducted more than 50,000 patient visits. The Clinic is staffed by a small paid staff and a large number of volunteers, including 60 Doctors and 125 volunteers in nursing, administrative, IT, and language translation professionals.
The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of the Mercy Health Clinic and is responsible for ensuring that the Clinic consistently accomplishes its mission and achieves its financial objectives. In addition to the management of the senior staff the key areas of responsibility of the Executive Director are:
- Building strong working relationships with the community and strategic partners and serve as the organization’s principal representative and spokesperson to the greater community.
- Raising funds and managing the related activities to include identifying, developing and cultivating sources to support the Clinic’s ongoing operations and future financial needs to include financial grant and non-financial support solicitations.
- Direct management of the Clinic’s planning, finances, budgeting, business operations, Human Resources and volunteer programs, along with the development of the related processes.
- Working through the Medical Director to fulfill the delivery of quality medical care to Mercy Health Clinic's patients.
- Leads the Clinic's management team in fund raising, the delivery of quality services and programs.
- Promoting collaboration and team work among the Clinic’s staff and volunteers.
- Maintaining a close working relationship with members of the Board of Directors and Clinic staff.
- Required experience, skills and education
- Experience as Executive Director and/or manager of a non-profit or service organization.
- Fund-raising and grant writing experience with quantifiable results
- Strong financial background with knowledge of financial systems, policy and procedures.
- General understanding of the health care delivery system.
- Excellent communication skills – written and public speaking.
- Public relations skills and a successful track record in building positive working relationships with community leaders, partners and/or funders.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound leadership and judgment.
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business, Finance, Hospital Administration, or related field
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills. Understands the importance of teamwork.
- High ethical standards and personal integrity. Demonstrated ability to: handle multiple tasks under pressure; exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions
- Basic computer skills - email, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Master Degree in Business, Finance, Hospital Administration or related field
- Experience working in a volunteer-oriented organization
- Resident of Montgomery County, Maryland
- Spanish speaking
